High School students will be exposed to many different basic skills in sewing and some quilting, including threading and working on a sewing machine, seams, hems, and other basic techniques. Projects will be student-led and developed from the ideas generated from the first session of class. Although geared towards beginners, experienced sewers will also be challenged!

Meet Mrs. Howard:
Theresa Howard has a BA in BusinessEd and was the Founding Director of Blue Skies Quilting and Gifts. She enjoys teaching quilting/sewing classes and enjoys working with kids of all
ages. Theresa believes that creating personal expressions of art can be deeply
rewarding and offer a lasting legacy.
Meet Jessica:
Jessica Cowan has over 20 years of experience in sewing, including historical and theatrical re-enactment costumes. She has been teaching Introduction to Sewing at the BiG Fab Lab for 2 years, as well as making miscellaneous textile projects for sale. She owns her own costume business called Domenica’s Fine Fashions.
Dates: Class meets weekly for 13 weeks
Pre-Requisites: None
Age restrictions: students entering 9th through 12th grades
What to bring: small notebook and pencil/pen for notetaking (suggested, optional)
