Japanese Teabowls with Iku

Iku has been a ceramic artist in Japan for over 35 years, creating both production and independent art.  His work has won multiple awards and is displayed in public spaces in several different countries.  Iku has intensively studied the tea ceremony tradition in the Tajimi area, famous since the 16th century for Mino and Seto style wares.  Participants of this class will learn several techniques including wheel throwing and coil to create traditional style tea bowls while gaining an understanding of the tea ceremony.  In addition to class time, Iku will be meeting with students individually for private lessons each week.
