WILDLIFE AND ANIMALS
The emphasis of this class will be on drawing and painting wildlife and animals. We will begin with learning different techniques of drawing the animals, and progress to methods of painting the various elements (fur, feathers, eyes, etc.). We will work from photographs - you may bring your own, or use one that will be provided for you. There will be lots of demonstrations, learning exercises, and personal instruction, which will lead to a painting of the animal of your choice.
You may work in your choice of mediums (watercolor, acrylic, oils, etc.), however, we cannot allow solvents to be used in the studio due to lack of ventilation (turpentines - even the odorless mineral spirits are still toxic). The following substances are allowed to be used in the studio in place of solvents:
Lavender Essential Oil
Linseed Oil
Walnut Oil
Art Treehouse Bio Based Artist's Thinner
Gamblin's Solvent Free Gel Medium (or other similar alkyd based solvent free medium upon approval)
Any kind of vegetable oil will clean your brushes, followed by soap and water
