What to bring: Please dress comfortably for our workshop. I advise not wearing your best clothing as it has a strong possibility of getting dirty. Please consider bringing any snacks you may need and a water bottle for the day. You will has access to a refrigerator if you are bringing a bagged lunch to help keep it cool.
Please feel free to bring any mixed media elements, or sketches and ideas you may want to work into your pieces. This is not required but participants in the past find it very rewarding when they can epersonalize their experience with their own artistic "flavor". Great examples of what we can incorporate is organic materials, specialty paper, some foils etc. I will have a small assortment of these things as well available for you to use.
Please add the $40 Materials Fee at checkout this helps cover the consumable supplies as well as your encaustic substrates that you will be using for each of your pieces (approximately 5 substrates) and more.
What to expect:
Day One Workshop will include the overview of encaustics, the history and general safety when working with encaustics. We will try to cover all the techniques in day one of the workshop, but any techniques we don't cover on day one we will be sure to cover on day two. The second day of the workshop is built to allow you time and space to work with all the new knowledge you have gained during day one. I will encourage you to flex your creative muscles and make myself available on day two to help creatively problem solve on each of your pieces.
