Learn how to create a beautiful Copper Calla Lily Necklace and a pair of Calla Lily Leaf earrings from start to finish, step-by-step, instructed Isabel Caldwell.
Saturday, April 18th, from 10am to 3pm. $235 includes all (copper) materials, and the use of Ben and Izzy’s tools.
In this workshop, Beginners to Advanced Students will learn how to cut, shape, texturize, anneal, and solder and how to apply a flame-patina to copper components.
Isabel Caldwell has been working with Ben Caldwell for more than 6 years, and she works full time in their studio. She worked for a fine jeweler for two years in New York, and she has a four-year degree in Fine Arts, Jewelry and Metals from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Many of you have met her when taking a Workshop with us.
Izzy designs and creates all of the Ben & Lael jewelry, and she has designed and crafted the Calla Lily necklace and earrings set for this workshop. She travels with Ben to Vermont and Wyoming to teach classes and has taught with him at Mud Puddle Pottery Studio many times. A member of their staff that will be assisting is Parker Anderson, who is a metal artist and works for us full time at Ben & Lael. He is one of Ben Caldwell's assistants, and works as a creator of their copper work.
Bring your lunch and we'll see you there! You can also get great Chicken or Hunts Brothers Pizza at our local grub station, Finches Country Store, that is just a block away.
Each participant will receive a special gift that Coppersmith, Ben Caldwell and Sharon Ingram, will be giving you for attending the workshop. Ben has made a River Rock Tulip Poplar server especially for you. It is a new design and you are the first to receive one. This workshop will teach students:
- how to prepare a workspace and materials
- how to use metalworking tools
- how to implement metalsmithing techniques like hammering, texturing, shaping, annealing, and flame painting
Ben Caldwell's Daughter, Isabel (Izzy) Caldwell will be leading the Coppersmithing Workshop, with an assistant, Parker Anderson.
