Vitality Arts: Drawing for Beginner to Advanced Artists 7 Week Course Fall 2024

Ages: geared for older adults ages 55+, but any adult can register
Date: Thursdays 10/3 - 11/21 (skip 10/17)
Time: 9:30am - 12pm
Cost: $135 (This class is made possible at a subsidized rate by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.)

Drawing is not a talent! It is a skill that anyone can learn just like any one can learn how to read and write, or ride a bike. In this course, you will be learning all the important foundational concepts to draw anything from observation (from two dimensional references and drawing from life) and render it realistically. As a bonus, I will also be sharing some secrets on how to draw from your imagination along the course.

Lines - Developing important habits to deliver good line quality as you draw.
Shapes - Process and break down your observation into simpler shapes and draw them in a visually interesting and dynamic way.
Perspective - Understanding basics of perspective and applying the concepts to create illusion of dimensions in the context of a one point, two point and three point perspective.
Values - Learn the basics of light and shadow and organize values to render a clear illusion of form.
Edges - Understand transitions between light and shadow, shapes and values and breathe life into your drawings.
Measurements and Proportions - Learn how to measure and capture accurate proportions in your drawing to create believability and likeness.
Bonus content - In order to elevate your drawings to the next level , we will be learning the concepts of traditional trois crayon and how to incorporate it into your drawing
