MAKE Love: a Maker community event against bigotry with FUEL.

We're kicking off a support program to bring Maker training--critical for the emerging economy-- to underserved and minority youth in our community who have long struggled with access to these equalizing skills.

For our inaugural fundraising event with FUEL, we're hosting a Cookout Social!

Buy a ticket-- help send a kid to class!

Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting tool & tech training for underserved community youth.

Event schedule:

BBQ dinner served hot 6:30-7:30pm (after which sides & desserts and beverages will be available. Alcoholic beverages may be consumed by those 21+ only.)

Franklinton Preparatory Student Steel Drum Band performance, 7pm

Maker Stations, 7:30 pm: lockpicking challenge course, metalsmithing (copper punching & stamping), LED electronics project, leatherworking, augmented reality, laser project, photo station

Maker stations are designed for adults and school-aged youth with parental supervision.

Tickets include the choice of BBQ or conventional grilled items like burgers & hot dogs paired with plenty of sides, desserts, & beverages.

The Maker movement is one of inclusion, equality, and love.  Love for our creative passions, love for building something, love for our future, and love for humanity.  The Idea Foundry and the Franklinton Urban Empowerment Lab are deeply saddened by recent events--rallies against the very democratic principles of equality we hold dear, demonstrations of hatred, racism and other forms of bigotry, the sporting of symbols that represent some of the darkest moments of our history.  We are reminded how important it is to show up and do the right thing.

Can't make this event? Consider Donating in the ticket area to support this community partnership!
