Class Description:
Great sauces and stocks are the backbone of exceptional cooking. Understanding the art of sauce-making empowers you to elevate your culinary creations, providing a solid foundation for a wide range of dishes. In this class, you will join our longtime CCKC instructor, Executive Chef Gary Hild, for a great culinary education on how to create the exceptional homemade stocks and sauces that are a core element of any chef’s repertoire. Let’s start with the basics: a rich and velvety basic brown sauce. Explore the nuanced flavors derived from a carefully crafted combination of browned beef, aromatic vegetables, and herbs. Then we’ll move onto chicken stock. Both stocks form the core of many Italian sauces and dishes. Once we’ve got the bases covered, we’ll get hands-on as we explore a classic Marinara Sauce, mastering the balance of tomatoes, garlic, onions, and herbs that will elevate any pasta dish. We will build on what we’ve learned as we transition to four classic sauces: a silky, decadent Carbonara; a rich and savory Bolognese; a creamy Alfredo; and a vibrant and aromatic Pesto Sauce. Chef Gary will cap off the class with that classic Italian pasta dish, Linguini with Italian Sausage in Gorgonzola Sauce. - We provide a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of a scheduled class. You will receive an Account Credit if you need to cancel at any time within three weeks but prior to the class start time. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund.
- This class is for adults 18+. Children 14-17 years old are allowed if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you plan to bring a minor.
