Class Description
We’re bringing you the flavors of summer heat with a Chili Workshop! A dish beloved across the nation with endless variations, styles, and add-ons. In this class, we'll delve deep into the rich world of chili, from crafting our own fragrant chili powder blend to tackling chili icons - a classic beef chili and tastings of a hearty Vegan Chili and a Texas Brisket Chili. Today’s class is taught by Chili Master Mel Cole. Mel is a Chemist with a passion for cooking and especially the art of making the perfect Chili. Mel is a member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society and a Certified Barbeque Judge. He has participated in two American Royal BBQ Championships.
You’ll start the class off by creating your own custom chili seasoning blend. Mel will share what spices are used for various chilis and how to combine different herbs and heat levels to pack a punch such as Mexican Oregano and Ancho Chili Powder. This powerhouse blend will be the base for your soon-to-be-legendary chili.
Next, we'll roll up our sleeves and get cooking with the quintessential beef chili. Diced beef will simmer low and slow with tomatoes, beans, peppers, onions and aromatic vegetables, and our house-made chili powder until thick and rich. Make sure to come hungry, you will not only be tasting your own beef chili, but also a hearty Vegan Chili and a Texas Brisket Chili- two of Mel’s specialties. To round out this chili feast, we'll prepare light and fluffy cornbread and for dessert you’ll sample fudgy brownies to tamper the heat with some sweet.
Whether you're a lifelong chili fanatic or just getting acquainted, this class will leave you with new appreciation, recipes, and skills for this comforting, customizable dish. Prepare to spend a Sunday chilling out with Mel and making some world class Chili.

- We provide a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of a scheduled class. You will receive an Account Credit if you need to cancel at any time within three weeks but prior to the class start time. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund.
- This class is for adults 18+. Children 14-17 years old are allowed if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you plan to bring a minor.

If you've registered with other people on the same order, you will automatically be seated together.
