Camp Description:
Calling all aspiring young bakers! Get ready to embark on an exciting journey into the world of baking with our immersive four-day summer Bake Camp! Designed specifically for kids ages 9-14, this camp offers a fun and educational experience. Longtime instructor and Chef Laura Thomsen has designed an interactive 4-day summer baking camp where your Junior Chefs (ages 9-14) can hone their baking skills and unleash their creativity in the kitchen. The kids will learn lots of basic baking techniques and fundamentals like measuring ingredients, mixing techniques (stirring, folding, beating, and whisking), creaming butter and sugar, and working with dough. And they will have the recipes and the know-how to do this again at home! Each day, your Junior Chef will take something home from class that the whole family can enjoy.
Day 1: Breads
On the first day of Bake Camp, campers will dive into the wonderful world of bread-making! From shaping dough to watching it rise, kids will learn the basics of creating delicious bread from scratch. With hands-on guidance from our expert instructors, they'll knead, bake, and taste their way to becoming bread-making pros.
Day 2: Muffins & Scones
Day two of Bake Camp is all about sweet and savory delights as campers explore the art of muffin and scone making. From fruity muffins to cheesy scones, kids will learn how to mix, fold, and bake their way to creating mouthwatering treats that are perfect for breakfast or snack time. Get ready for a day filled with scrumptious flavors and creative baking fun!
Day 3: Cinnamon Rolls
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and indulge in the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls! On day three, campers will learn the secrets behind crafting these gooey, cinnamon-spiced delights from scratch. From preparing the dough to swirling in the cinnamon sugar, kids will delight in every step of the process as they create their own batch of delicious cinnamon rolls to enjoy and share.
Day 4: Pies
The grand finale of Bake Camp is all about pies! From flaky crusts to fruity fillings, kids will learn how to master the art of pie-making from start to finish. First we’ll learn how to make a flaky pie crust from scratch. Then we’ll learn how to make a seasonal fruit pie and a chocolate cream pie. Campers will discover techniques and tricks for creating pies that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Get ready to slice into a world of pie perfection!
Notes:
Please click here for a full description of our policies and FAQ’s. Finalization of your registration tells us that you have read and understand them. Below is a summary of some of the key information, but it is not all-inclusive.
- For multi-session classes and camps, we will gladly give you a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of the first class in the series and/or camp. Within three weeks of the start of a series, no refunds or credits will be given. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund. In the event your child misses a class in the series or camp, no refunds will be given and it is not possible to make up the class(es) in a future similar series. Likewise, once the series or camp has begun, no substitutions will be allowed since the series is designed for the classes to build upon each other.
- If (a) you’d like to sit with another registered guest, or (b) have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Comments section of your registration after reading our full description of policies and information about classes. Please note that children on the same registration form will automatically be seated together.
- Your registration tells us that you have read through the class description including the age requirements for that particular class.
- For Junior Chef (ages 9-14) classes and camps: Your child must be at least 9 years old as of the first class date (or as of the date of the first class of a series or camp) and no more than 14 years old. We reserve the right to check the age of your child. You must provide an Under 18 Waiver that is signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click here for a copy of the Under 18 Waiver. We encourage you to download, print, and sign the waiver and bring it to class with your child. If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time. Without an appropriately signed Waiver, your child will not be allowed to attend the class. If someone other than the parent drops off your child and requests to sign on behalf of a child, they will need evidence that they are a legal guardian for that child. Please choose the class that is right for the developmental level and maturity of your child.
