Beginning Bronze Casting

Ages 16+
Students under 18 must have a guardian present

In this 4 week session, students will begin with taking hand molds and converting them into a bronze sculpture.  Through this process, learn basic bronze casting techniques: mold making, how to plan for and create vents and sprues, cleaning up (or chasing) the bronze, and adding a patina.

Project designs can be creative and/or functional.  Ideas can include holders for fruit bowls, umbrellas or coats,  or made as stand alone expressive pieces.  

Each student will have the opportunity to attend the casting of their bronze piece here at the Idea Foundry.

May sessions: start date: 5/23, then  consecutive Tuesdays, 5/30, 6/6,  &  6/13
