Class Description
Tonight’s class is focused on the decedent menu of world class ingredients inspired by the classic steakhouse menu. Adding to tonight's fun is the option to purchase a wine flight chosen by our Chef, Lisa Burgess. Lisa has extensive experience in the restaurant industry, including as a sommelier. Her previous management positions included working at several notable Kansas City establishments including Venue, Cafe Sebastienne at The Kemper Museum, and The American Restaurant. Lisa has a passion for culinary education, she spent more than ten years as a culinary arts instructor at The Career and Technology Center at Fort Osage in Independence, Missouri, and manages a catering company employing students from across the metropolitan area who work alongside industry professionals. For Lisa, cooking and sharing a meal is more than a task-it's a powerful tool for education, a means to unite families and communities, and a bridge across cultural divides, she can’t wait to see you in the kitchen!
We are starting you off with a warm, creamy spinach artichoke dip and toast points, a perfect appetizer for any gathering and the best way to start off the night. Next up is a wedge salad with homemade blue cheese. Once you make your own you will never go back to store-bought! We couldn't host a steakhouse inspired menu without the steak. For tonight's star of the show, Lisa is teaching you to do Steak au Poivre - a classic French variation on a filet using cracked peppercorns in a decadent pan sauce. As our side we have Scalloped Potatoes in a rich and creamy cheese sauce. Finally, conclude your feast with a rich Creme Brulee - vanilla custard is topped with a layer of caramelized sugar. This is truly a take-home recipe to impress friends and family at your next dinner party.
Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a culinary novice, this class promises an unforgettable evening of hands-on learning while you create an unforgettable meal.
* This class has an optional wine flight of three wines chosen by Chef Lisa to pair with the dishes you will be making. Add your wine flight at purchase. You can also purchase wine flights in-person at the beginning of class. *
