The second event in our Paint Me a Story Series is The Snatchabook by Helen and Thomas Docherty. I was given this book at an author's event that I went to years ago. The book had not yet launched and was in a big bag of books that I brought home from the long day in New York. I recall bringing the bag out to the garden where my mother was seated and offering her options to read. I picked up this children's book and within minutes I was reading it aloud. My sister, who was about 30 at the time drew closer. Her kids were spellbound. About 3 pages from the end I stopped and closed the book. "What happened" they all exclaimed! "You can't leave us hanging!" I don't know what ever came of this book, but what I do know is that this is a really good story and you will be drawn in right along with your children.
When it is over the children will be invited to paint a figurine or maybe a bunny - our hero. The glazes we paint with are lead free and non-toxic. They usually wash right out of clothing, but I would not dress to impress, just in case. The children will be offered a smock and the projects will be available within a week after painting them. Any plates or bowls that are painted are dishwasher safe and microwave safe so they can be use safely for food.
