What would summer be without a beach-y soap to lather up in after a long day in the sun?
Soap and SIP. Make your own batch of cold process soap in this beginner soap making class while enjoying a glass of wine or beerage of choice. Following a demonstration, each student will pour a 1 lb batch of cold process soap, which will yield at least 4 generous size bars of soap.
In this class, students will learn about the various stages of ‘trace’ in soap making and how to control trace to achieve design techniques. We’ll cover splitting a batch for multiple colors, as well as a little ‘in the pot swirl’ for the ocean part of the soap.
This design will work best with a tallow soap recipe, but we will also have a vegan friendly oil blend available. Students can choose from several tropical summer fragrances, or email Elizabeth with special requests!
Don’t live nearby? Elizabeth can ship your soaps fora small $5 charge that you pay her on the date of class.
All materials and tools are provided. One glass of wIne or soda is also inlcuded (We will have several to choose from). We encourage you to bring your own snacks or meal, as desired.

We will also cover basic lye safety, a brief overview of the science of saponification, a take home list of resources for soap recipes, and Elizabeth's favorite suppliers.
Your soaps will be ready to pick up on the Wednesday following class (May 8th). Cold process soaps perform the best when allowed 4-6 weeks to cure in open air. Your soaps will be at their peak quality late May to early June.
