Class Description:
Once June hits, summer activities are well under way. Experienced instructor Susy Lara has designed an interactive 3-day summer cooking camp where your budding chefs (ages 9-14) can experience foods from around the globe as they learn to cook delicious recipes. Susy has been teaching kids classes at CCKC for many years and always gets rave reviews from her students. She's also a second-grade teacher, so she has tons of experience in the classroom. The kids will learn lots of basic cooking techniques and fundamentals like knife skills, measuring, mixing, and more. And here’s the bonus… they will have the recipes and the know how to do this again at home! Each day, your junior chef will take something home from class that the whole family can enjoy.
Day 1: Italian Feast
Our global culinary journey begins in Italy, where young chefs will learn how to make a real Marinara Sauce, Parmesan Breadsticks, and delicious layered meat Lasagna. We’ll also make Homemade Ranch Dressing for side salad and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Young chefs will take home Lasagna for the whole family to try.
Day 2: American Comfort Food
Our global journey continues in the US with classic American comfort food like Parmesan-Crusted Chicken with Lemon Cream sauce, Roasted Potatoes, and a fresh Berry Crumble. Young chefs will take home Parmesan-Crusted Chicken for the whole family to try.
Day 3: Mexican Fiesta
For our final class, we’ll head south-of-the-border so our young chefs can learn how to make authentic Green Enchiladas with Tomatillo sauce, Mexican Rice, Pico de Gallo with tortilla chips, delicious Tres Leches Cupcakes, and more. Young chefs will take home Enchiladas for the whole family to try.
Notes:
Please click here for a full description of our policies and FAQ’s. Finalization of your registration tells us that you have read and understand them. Below is a summary of some of the key information, but it is not all-inclusive.
- For multi-session classes and camps, we will gladly give you a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of the first class in the series and/or camp. Within three weeks of the start of a series, no refunds or credits will be given. In the event your child misses a class in the series, no refunds will be given and it is not possible to make up the class(es) in a future similar series. Likewise, once the series has begun, no substitutions will be allowed since the series is designed for the classes to build upon each other.
- If (a) you’d like to sit with another registered guest, or (b) have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Comments section of your registration after reading our full description of policies and information about classes. Please note that children on the same registration form will automatically be seated together.
- Your registration tells us that you have read through the class description including the age requirements for that particular class.
- For Junior Chef (ages 9-14) classes and camps: Your child must be at least 9 years old as of the first class date (or as of the date of the first class of a series or camp) and no more than 14 years old. We reserve the right to check the age of your child. You must provide an Under 18 Waiver that is signed by a parent or legal guardian. Click here for a copy of the Under 18 Waiver. We encourage you to download, print, and sign the waiver and bring it to class with your child. If someone other than the parent signs a Waiver, they will need a legal document to be presented that shows without question that they have the legal authority to sign a Waiver on behalf of your child at that time. Without an appropriately signed Waiver, your child will not be allowed to attend the class. If someone other than the parent drops off your child and requests to sign on behalf of a child, they will need evidence that they are a legal guardian for that child. Please choose the class that is right for the developmental level and maturity of your child.
- Our Kitchen Shop Experience™ will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class.
