These workshops have been crafted as a start-to-finish lessons on creating a painting. They're like a crash course in a little bit of everything. You will work through how to select and create imagery to paint from, explore experimental drawing exercises to train your eye, colour mixing, to finally crafting your own painting on canvas.
These workshops are suited to anyone 15yrs and older. If you're after kids classes or more casual workshops we have Art Hour at The Anya Brock Gallery in Fremantle.
My workshop will explore the nature of self observation and work on breaking down all the obstacles that hinder your creative path. It'll teach you to strengthen your trust in yourself and your own intuition and allow you to hear your internal creative voice more clearly.
The Workshop will provide:
- Source imagery to paint from
- Paper, Pens, Charcoal, ink
- Paint Pots
- Paintbrushes
- 20 x 24 inch canvas (51cm x 61cm) valued $65
- Sushi lunch - we will provide a range of dietary options but if you have specific dietary requirements that isn't sushi it might be best to BYO.

We'll be painting loose interpretations of proteas like those pictured. This class involves teaching experimental mark making and the restraint required to create immediate and expressive pieces- aka NOT overworking your painting.
EXPERIENCE and AGE: It’s not essential that you have an existing creative practice- newcomers are welcome but the exercises we’ll do are fairly experimental and so require a courageous spirit!
15yrs and older is appropriate.
The end goal of this workshop is for me to teach you how to create with a light and expansive mindset rather than a critical and discouraging one.

TIME: 9am - 3pm. We’ll start at 9am on the dot so please arrive 10 mins early to get settled.

WHAT TO BRING: We’ll get messy so wear something you don’t mind getting paint on. I'll have aprons but as we all know- paint finds its way around aprons.
WHAT IS PROVIDED: Paper, pens, charcoal, paint, brushes, one 20 x 24 inch canvas (roughly 51cm x 61cm).
WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH: A heap of experimental exercises, a finished painting and, a swag of new skills a healthy respect for your creative self!
NOTES: Keep in mind that you’ll be transporting a wet painting home so best drive and bring a sheet or old towel to protect your car.
PARKING: There's plenty of parking out front.
FOOD + DRINK: A sushi lunch will be provided and we'll have snacks and tea and coffee facilities available.
