In this intermediate-level handbuilding workshop, Sabrina Barilone will teach you how to sculpt a clay bust using your own photo reference, with a focus on the facial features. The class will start by building solid, and then hollow out the sculptures before firing. Since you will focus on sculpting the clay, you will not glaze or paint your bust during the workshop. Previous experience with handbuilding is REQUIRED. Ages 16 and up.
Most of the workshop will take place on Saturday, September 29, 1-6 pm. There will be a short second session on Saturday, October 6, 1-2 pm, to hollow out the pieces and prepare them for firing. Participants are encouraged to either take their pieces home or come back to the studio between the first and second sessions, in order to have extra time to work on the details of their piece. If you do not attend the second session, we will not be able to fire your piece.
The cost is $60 for non-members, $50 for members, and includes all materials.
