Join us as we HAND DYE yardage in an exclusive palette of colors. We will then use that yardage with a background fabric of your choice and construct a "Sawtooth Trio" quilt. This pattern is exclusive to the class and has been developed specifically to use your unique hand-dyed yardage. You will have your choice of two sizes: 72" x 72" or 88" x 88" by adding either simple borders or slightly more interesting borders with your dyed yardage!
I provide all the dyes, chemicals, supplies and prepared for dying fabric yardage to hand dye your quilt top fabric. Participants are required to provide their own background fabric (2.5 yards) (we will talk about background colors during the dying session) As a class ADD ON participants may choose to also purchase fabric for the backing and binding to dye as well.
For the Dyeing session wear old clothes, the dyes will stain permanently. Otherwise be comfortable, water bottles and snacks are acceptable
(add your blurb for open sewing here so participants know they need sewing supplies for the last session)
.....
The first session is the dyeing session (3 hours); we do the top yardage, binding, and backing for those who added them. We skip at least a week (possibly two) allows people to finish their fabric (wash and press) and get their background fabric.
The second session will be the cutting session(2 hours), and the binding session. I help people through cutting the dyed yardage because it's apparently not as easy as I thought. We cut the background as well. And I demo my bias binding method for folk as well. I do it slightly differently but think overall it's easier.
The third session is sewing(3 hours). People can start ahead of time and save the parts they may not understand for the third session, and I can help them through those parts of the pattern. Everyone gets a copy of the Sawtooth Trio pattern. Alternately, you can dovetail my third session with one of your open sew sessions, and I can be on hand to help people with questions.
