Painting Realism Demystified

In this 3-day painting workshop you will be immersed in the language of oil painting and the use of color and composition in a step-by-step method to create realism in oils with a focus on portraiture. Topics will include oil painting materials, under paintings, and portrait color mixing. You will create two different paintings over the course of the workshop. Learn in a non-stressful environment from professional artist Pat Hobaugh. June 21-23, 10:30 am-5:00 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break each day. There will also be a public reception with the artist on June 23 at 6:30 pm.

The fee is $400 for non-members, or $325 for members of The 567, and includes 3 days of instruction. Students are expected to bring their own paints, brushes and other supplies--a supply list will be provided.

About the instructor:
Originally from the Midwest, Pat received his BFA in painting from the University of Iowa and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin. He has over 20 years of painting experience and has lived, painted, and taught in Atlanta since 2010. His work can currently be found in galleries across the country, from Newport Beach to New Orleans and New York.
