We are looking for talented young performers (rising 8th grade through 12th grade) to join us for 2 nights at the movies!! The show will be directed and choreographed by Amy Lang with music direction by Alexa Rybinski. Movie Night will consist of music from popular movies with theatrical songs/dances as well as scenes and monologues. This show is built around those who audition - so really show us what you’ve got!
Here’s all the details:
Grab your popcorn and settle in for Movie Night — a high-energy, feel-good musical celebration of the magic of the movies! The show follows a group of teenagers as they get together for a movie night. When they can’t agree on which movie to watch, their imaginations take over — leading them through a whirlwind of iconic musical numbers inspired by beloved film moments from every genre. As the teens sing and dance their way through movie-inspired scenes, they discover that the best stories aren’t just the ones on screen — they’re the ones we create together.
Perfect for audiences of all ages, Movie Night is a joyful tribute to movies, music, and the power of shared experiences.
What to expect:
Schedule:
30 minute Dance Call
hour and a half Singing/acting call (once you have finished this portion, you are free to leave)
DANCE CALL: Mandatory.
Auditioners will be taught a short dance to perform in small groups as part of their audition. Please wear clothes/shoes that you can dance in.
All auditioners need to attend the dance call!
SINGING CALL: Mandatory.
- Prepare a 1-minute portion of a song to perform. Your song choice should show off your vocal abilities.
We will be using (karaoke) tracks for these auditions so you do not need to bring sheet music. To find a track, go to YouTube and search for the name of your song + karaoke. (The track you chose should not have the lead vocals - we want to hear your vocals!) Practice with the track before your audition so you know exactly when to start singing - you will have to tell us which part of the song you would like to start at so we can cue it up for you (for example, 1 minute and 30 seconds into the song)
Please do not choose a song that you can not find a karaoke track for on YouTube
Side notes:
-It is a good idea to have a contrasting song prepared as a backup in case we ask to see something else.
-If your song fits our Heroes and Villains theme, we may include it in the show!
ACTING CALL: Optional. If you would like to present a 1-2 minute monologue, you may. We will also have a small selection of monologues available at the audition if you would like to choose one to present. Monologues do not need to be memorized.
What to Bring:
-Water bottle
-Dance in appropriate attire
-Headshot/Resume (If you don’t have these, don’t sweat it! -We will have a form for you to fill out and can take a quick picture of you if need be!)
-List of Conflicts: We will need a sense of your schedule so please have a list of dates that you can not rehearse.
We will typically rehearse Monday-Thursday 6:30-8:30, Saturdays 10:00-12:00, and Sundays 1:00-4:00. (You will not need to be at every rehearsal until we get to the week before the show)
