In this class, DeAnna will guide students through creating a lovely coil bowl. We will use the extruder to create nice even coils. (Which is always the hard part!) Then, we will artfully arrange the coils inside or over of a plaster mold. One side of the bowl will be smooth while the other reveals the coils. Students will select the glaze for the finished work. DeAnna will glaze your bowl and they will be ready for pick up in 3 - 4 weeks. Shipping is available upon request.
Meet your instructor, DeAnna
I love teaching people about clay. It’s such a versatile medium with a rich, expansive history. It’s so fundamental that it part of almost every culture. Yet, even with ancient roots, new techniques are still emerging from new surface decoration methods and forming approaches. The possibilities for creating with clay is limitless, functional, sculptural, decorative, etc.
I think it’s easy to be intimidated by clay. But the clay studio here at Arrowhead is a comfortable environment with warm and inviting instructors. It’s a safe space to learn without pressure. Exploration is encouraged!
