Vine Lessons: The Wines of Tuscany
Wine Tastings / Wine Nibbles / Demonstration Class
Wine Expert Shriti Plimpton
Class Description:
In Italy, food and wine are paramount. Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions of the world and boasts more than 1 million vineyards under cultivation. Italian wines can be very confusing though, as some are labeled by region, some by varietal, and some by both … Mama Mia! Here to sort it all out is winemaker and educator Shriti Plimpton, who definitely knows her stuff when it comes to Italian varietals. This evening Shriti will lead our tastings and wine education as she focuses on the red and white varietals of Northern Italy – Piedmont, Tuscany, and the Tre Venezie, from both Italian and Cal-Italia producers. Learn about Riserva versus Classico and the DOCG designations. Italian wine is more than Chianti! You’ll leave this class with a better understanding of the wines of Tuscany and a newfound confidence when it comes to your wine store or the wine list.
