Explore what it’s like to be a potter! Campers will spend the week working on the wheel to throw and trim pottery. Campers will create fun, functional wares such as bowls, cups, and dishes. They will learn how to attach additions such as handles and how to decorate their surfaces using slips and underglazes.
Our goal is to have clay projects fired and ready to be picked up 3-4 weeks after the class is held. Once the clay projects are ready, participants have 14 days to pick up their projects. Part of the process in wheel throwing is basic studio etiquette. Your class time includes not only throwing, but also cleaning your wheel and surrounding floor area and clay tools that were used. Clay is messy - leave your watches and rings at home. Please bring a towel to wipe your hands and wear an apron/clothes you can get dirty (clay does wash out). A clean studio is a healthy studio as clay dust can build up.
There will be a snack break approximately halfway through class each day. Included in your camp registration is 1 snack or drink per day. Students may bring cash to purchase additional snacks or drinks or bring their own additional snacks or drinks, if desired. Additional snacks and drinks are $1 each.
