Let It Move: Anger, Art & the Nervous System is a guided somatic art experience for adults, co-led by Amanda of Flourish Studio & Classroom and Jamie of Intuitive Encounters. Together, we will explore how anger lives in the body and how creative movement, art-making, breath, sound, and mindfulness can support nervous system regulation and allow emotions to flow rather than stagnate.
What to Expect
This workshop blends somatic movement, expressive art-making, guided breathwork, vocal release, and intentional pauses. Participants will be invited into:
- Large, full-body mark making using expansive motions on paper
- Experimentation with textures and materials in a process-focused, intuitive way
- Nervous system regulation through grounding practices and pacing
- Breathwork focused on safely releasing and honoring anger
- Optional vocal expression, including the opportunity to scream or use sound into a pillow for comfort and noise control
- Reflection and integration, with the option for quiet personal processing
Using the voice can be a powerful tool for emotional release. Sound helps complete the body’s natural stress response, releases held tension in the jaw, throat, and chest, and supports anger in moving outward rather than being held inside. Many people were taught to quiet their voices. This practice gently reclaims sound as a form of self-regulation and release.
Participation in vocal expression is always optional. You are welcome to scream, sigh, hum, breathe, stay quiet, or simply witness the experience in whatever way feels safest and most supportive for your body.
Why Anger, and Why Now
Anger is not something to suppress, fix, or fear. It is a natural, intelligent response that carries important information. When anger is not allowed to move through the body, it can build and harden. This workshop offers a supported space to explore anger as energy and expression.
Anger is the nervous system’s way of saying something is not right. When that anger has no place to move, it often turns inward as anxiety, tension, shutdown, resentment, physical pain, or emotional exhaustion
This anger is not a flaw. It is not something to suppress or judge. It is intelligent, protective, and sacred.
This workshop recognizes anger as a necessary and righteous emotion that deserves expression, movement, and release for the well-being of both body and mind.
Who This Workshop Is For
- Adults seeking a healthy, embodied way to work with anger or emotional buildup
- Those curious about somatic practices, expressive arts, or nervous system regulation
- Anyone who feels called to explore emotions through movement and creativity
No prior art or somatic experience is needed.
What to Bring and Wear
- Clothes that can get messy, as we will be using expressive materials
- A pillow from home, which will be used for comfort, grounding, and optional vocal release
- An open mind and a willingness to listen to your body
This workshop is not about creating a finished art piece. The focus is on expression, embodiment, and emotional flow rather than artistic skill or outcome.
Important Notes
This workshop is designed to be supportive and regulating, not overwhelming. You are always welcome to step back, rest, or modify participation at any time. Choice, consent, and nervous system safety are central to this experience.
All art materials will be provided.
