In this 1.5-hour watch and learn class, you will learn about key ingredients and flavors in Creole cuisine, watch Chef Mark demonstrate cooking components of 3-4 dishes, and taste what is made. This is a demonstration-only class where attendees watch the chef; if you want an active-participation class on this topic, look for “Inspired by Creole Flavors: Hands-On Learning.”
In this demonstration class,
Chef Mark will
- Explain key ingredients and flavors of Creole cuisine, such as Andouille sausage and the "trinity" of onion, celery, and bell pepper
- Demonstrate and answer questions about how to cook at least 3 Creole-inspired dishes, such as Jambalaya
- Discuss some tips and techniques while cooking (note that this is not as detailed as in the hands-on classes)
Participants will
- Learn about key ingredients
- Watch and ask questions
- Get a tasting portion of each dish prepared in class to eat while there (you can anticipate a lunch-sized meal overall)
- Take home the featured recipes
No cooking experience necessary.
We will have hot coffee, hot tea, and cold water available. Feel free to bring your own nonalcoholic beverages with you.
