Scary Sharp: Tool & Blade Sharpening

In this class, students will learn how to affordably profile and sharpen cutting instruments with "scary sharp"​sandpaper/plate glass as opposed to commonly used oil and water stones.

In the last 1/2 hour of the class, students are free to sharpen additional items or learn specialized sharpening techniques for chainsaw chain, garden/landscaping tools, paint scrapers, carving tools for wood/stone/leather, woodworking chisels or mower blades.

• Ages 17+

• Students must complete Orientation: Woodturning, Spindle before they can take this class or be able to demonstrate satisfactory equivalent experience. If the latter, please email devonpalmersassistant@gmail.com before signing up

Tool Clearance

• Will not be cleared to use any Idea Foundry tools

• Bring your own lathe tools for sharpening (if possible)

We recommend starting your wood turning experience with one of these introductory classes; Orientation: Woodturning, Spindle, or Orientation: Woodturning, exotic pen turning

Plan Your Visit

All materials and safety equipment supplied.  Closed-toed shoes, long sleeved shirts, natural fibers (cotton, denim, linen), with long hair pulled back. Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk.  Our main entrance is on State Street, with parking lot entrance on State St. as well. IF parking and street parking available.
