Class Description:
Pies are a beloved dessert any time of year, but there's something special about the bright, fresh flavors of spring and summer pies. In this hands-on class, you'll learn foundational skills for making perfect pie crusts every time - flaky, tender, and delicious. Your guide is Pastry Chef Catie Wiley, who joins us after a distinguished career as a pastry chef at several iconic patisseries and restaurants on the East Coast. We'll start by mastering the techniques for an all-purpose pie dough that will be the base for your creations. You'll learn how to properly mix the dough, roll it out, crimp the edges, and blind bake for a gorgeous, golden crust. Then we'll dive into two seasonal pie fillings that celebrate the bounty of spring and summer. First, you'll prepare a tangy, velvety lemon curd - an iconic flavor that's bright and refreshing. We'll also make a classic apple pie filling, but with a twist by adding fresh strawberries for a pop of color and sweet-tart flavor. By the end of the class, you'll have two beautiful pies to take home, along with the skills and recipes to bake up many more pie delights. Class also includes instructions on proper food safety, make-ahead tips, and ways to creatively vary the pie fillings with other seasonal fruits. Come bake, banter, and indulge with fellow pie lovers!

• Our Kitchen Shop Experience™ retail store will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class. Please enjoy a 10% discount on all items in our retail store during the full calendar day/night of your class or event.
• We provide a full refund if you need to cancel more than three weeks prior to the start of a scheduled class. You will receive an Account Credit if you need to cancel at any time within three weeks but prior to the class start time. Please note that any refund issued for classes purchased using a Gift Certificate or Account Credit will result in reinstatement of the original Gift Card or Account Credit and will bear the same expiration date. Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund.
• This class is for adults 18+. Children 14-17 years old are allowed if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know if you plan to bring a minor.

If you've registered with other people on the same order, you will automatically be seated together.
