Description:
Unleash your imagination and bring your stories to life in this exciting 4-day comic creation camp for ages 12–17! Students will learn the fundamentals of comic storytelling while creating their own original 3-page comic from start to finish. Guided step-by-step, participants will explore scripting a short story, planning dynamic page layouts, character design, drawing techniques, and inking methods used by comic artists. This camp is a fun and supportive space to develop your artistic voice, storytelling skills, and creativity. By the end of camp, each student will leave with a completed hand-drawn, 3 page comic and the skills to continue creating their own stories.
About the teaching artist:
Joe grew up with a passion for comics, fantasy novels and classic Sega Genesis video games. This led him to graduate from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Design/Comic Art.
Joe is always busy drawing and owns Dirty Inks LLC where he specializes in fantasy illustration, comic art, children’s book art, and storyboarding.
