Owl and Falcon Encounter

Meet the most primitive and mysterious raptor on the planet, the owl, along with one of our fastest flying species, the falcon. Learn about the roles diurnal and nocturnal raptors play in the environment and adaptations each have that set them apart from other birds of prey. See up-close the astounding differences and flight styles of the enigmatic, elusive Great Horned owl next to the agile, sleek Lanner falcon. Participants will glove up and free fly our falcon, having the opportunity to call and cast the falcon from across a field. Experience the awe of the falcon stooping the lure in a magnificent display of aerial acrobatics in a simulated hunt. Students will also see a flight demonstration with the owl, along with time holding him on the glove. We will have ample photo opportunities with both raptor species followed by a Q&A. Offered in small groups at the Sky Falconry Ranch in Alpine September through mid-July.
