Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

August 4, 2018, 10 am-5 pm

Tuition: $75

Will be held at Jerome King Playground!

No previous painting experience is necessary!

This years workshop will be a fun-filled day of letting go, forgetting life's stresses, creating art and self-discovery. We will be completing three projects and having lots of great fun and camaraderie with like-minded women.

Once again this year, Amy Shaffer Post, LCSW, and Dr. Gwen Rock share with us on our self-discovery journey.

We will have discussions on the power of color in our world, our artwork, our home? How or why do we associate certain colors with different emotions? How does color relate to our mood, our message to our viewers? Do we want our painting to exude a calm and serene feeling or shout about the current chaos happening in our life?

Have you ever felt like you're going through the motions without really experiencing life? Would you like to learn how to be more present in your everyday experiences? Would you like to learn how to improve your mood, decrease your stress, and improve your sleep? Amy Shaffer Post will share a valuable tool to help us stop and be present.

We will be painting a 24 x 36 canvas using a variety of utensils, You choose your own color schemes for the day! You will be choosing your own colors for all your projects. Throwing paint at the canvas can be extremely fun and therapeutic.

We will be painting a pair of your very own shoes. You choose what to paint on your shoes, as you can see from my example, I loved the paint splatter but perhaps you want to paint a design. Again, YOU make the choice of colors and design, just remember, bring a pair of your own shoes!

We will also be painting a festive mandala on a 6x6 canvas. This mandala will be completed using three colors of your choice. The mandalas are fun to prop on a shelf or hang in just the right space.

Each of these projects will offer an opportunity for self-discovery, mindfulness and creative expression. Let yourself be intuitively guided into creating artwork and then discover and understand what is revealed through your creation!  Learn to listen to and trust your intuition, so you can begin to have a deeper understanding of yourself.

This phenomenal painting event has limited seating so don't wait to register. The area Greencastle Merchants will be providing prizes for this event. Joyful Arts will be providing a $100 gift certificate towards classes.

Since starting my business, I have been reminded time and time again of the benefits we receive through the creative process. It is my passion to share this with as many people as possible. I have had the pleasure of teaching students with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADD and ADHD, grieving the loss of a loved one, Alzheimer's and people just like you and me dealing with daily stress. I have seen the benefits of creating art first hand, both with my students and in my own life. Creating art has transformed me into a more self-confident person, enabling me to pursue my dreams.

I hope to provide scholarships so please reach out to me if this is something that would benefit you but cannot afford it, please let me know so I can possibly help with a partial or full scholarship.
