NEW ADDITION – THURSDAY, OCT 24TH
Join Warren Hatch on Thursday, October 24th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for an exclusive session on photographing the “Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS).”
Although the comet is past its peak, it can still be captured beautifully. In this workshop, you'll learn how to locate the comet in the night sky and how to photograph it effectively. We’ll also discuss post-processing techniques to enhance your final images.
The sample image below is a composite, featuring the comet from last night blended with a foreground from Warren’s archives. While not the best example, it gives you a sense of what can be achieved.
The workshop will take place near West Chester, PA. Full details and the exact meeting location will be provided upon registration.
Prerequisites: This is an advanced class, not suitable for beginners. You should have attended one of our Milky Way or Star Trails workshops previously. You must be able to focus in the dark and shoot in manual mode. Instruction on these topics will not be provided during this workshop, so please come prepared. A 70-200mm lens is required (lenses with less than 200mm will make the comet appear too small). Additionally, bring a sturdy tripod, a camera plate for tripod mounting, a wired cable/shutter release, and a headlamp.
This workshop is limited to 6 participants.
Registration Fee: $ 47.00 (NO REFUND / NO CANCELLATIONS)
Meets: Friday, October 18, 2024 from 5:30PM - 8:30PM (Sunset 6:19PM)
