6. You are welcome to make as many things as you want out of your clay, but there are a couple of things to know:
- The clay may dry out as you work with it. Cracks can be smoothed by adding a little water and smothing with your finger or a sponge.
- Don't make anything thinner than an Oreo Cookie (or about 1/4 inch) Thinner pieces will break
- Use a toothbrush with a tiny bit of water to scratch and slip the surfaces of the clay to attach pieces. Be sure to press them together firmly. Pieces attached any other way will shrink when they dry and fall off. Here is a short video to show you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urnIpWbKIGw. - Lastly, you can use household objects to shape your clay! Everyday tools such as silverware, toothpicks, kebab sticks or bottle caps make great tools. You can also use things like lace, textured fabric, leaves or tree bark to create textures in your clay.
- A rolling pin may be used to roll the clay out in a slab.
- The clay is just mud. Anything you make dirty can easily be washed with soap and water.
7. When your creations are done, bring them back to us to fire. When they are finished we will call you to let you know they are ready to paint.
