Orientation: Vacuum Former

Vacuum forming allows you to heat and stretch plastic over a dimensional object to create molds or production parts.  From prototyping, to custom molds, to cosplay and textured panels, vacuum forming can be a versatile machine for production-quality fabrication or hobby.

Pairs Well With

Learn how to machine 2.5D contoured pieces on the ShopBot out of materials like wood or foam which you can then use as bases to create your vacuum formed molds with the ShopBot Orientation class.


Plan Your Visit

All materials and safety equipment supplied.  Students are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to participate, and sturdy footwear (e.g. tennis shoes or boots) is recommended. Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk.  Our main entrance is on State Street, with parking lot entrance on State St. as well. IF parking and street parking available.
