Using pigmented beeswax and heat, you'll explore one of the oldest and most versatile art mediums — perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike. Over the weekend, you’ll complete multiple encaustic pieces while learning a wide range of foundational and advanced techniques.
What We’ll Learn:

🔥 1 intro project to learn essential foundational techniques

You’ll leave with several completed works and the confidence to continue your encaustic journey at home or in future workshops.

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day (Breaking for lunch each day for an hour)

What’s Included:
- Use of professional encaustic materials & tools
- Approximately Five wood substrates for your projects
- Use of mixed media elements, collage papers, specialty materials & more
- Hands-on instruction and one-on-one guidance
- Studio ventilation, safety equipment, and workspace setup
- Workshop booklet
- A few assorted encaustic materials and tools for you to take home (included in the materials fees)
What to Bring:
- Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting messy
- Bring snacks, beverages, or a bagged lunch (refrigerator available)
- Optional: personal mixed media pieces such as organic materials, specialty papers, sketches, foil, fibers, or items with personal meaning
(These are not required, but past students have loved adding their own creative “flavor” to their work.)
What to Expect:
Day 1
We’ll dive into the fundamentals of encaustics: safety, history, tools, and essential techniques. You’ll begin guided projects and work through as many techniques as possible on the first day — anything we don’t finish will roll into Day 2.
Day 2
This is your creative expansion day. You’ll continue and complete your projects with instructor support, feedback, and problem-solving. Day 2 is designed to help you confidently work independently while still having expert guidance at your side.
