🎨 2–Day Encaustic Workshop (July 25–26, 2026)

Unlock the rich, luminous world of encaustic painting in this immersive two-day workshop led by professional artist and instructor Ashley Ellis.
Using pigmented beeswax and heat, you'll explore one of the oldest and most versatile art mediums — perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike. Over the weekend, you’ll complete multiple encaustic pieces while learning a wide range of foundational and advanced techniques.
What We’ll Learn:

✨ Introduction to encaustic history, medium, tools & studio safety
🔥 1 intro project to learn essential foundational techniques
🖼 1 project exploring image transfer
🧵 1 project with collage, texture, excavation & color fills
🔥 1 project featuring the dramatic shellac burn technique
🖨 1 project experimenting with encaustic monoprinting

You’ll leave with several completed works and the confidence to continue your encaustic journey at home or in future workshops.

🗓 Dates: Saturday & Sunday July 25–26, 2026

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day (Breaking for lunch each day for an hour)

📍 Location: NEW Ellis Visual Arts Studio

💵 Cost: $295 per participant

🧰 Materials Fee: Additional $40 (PLEASE SELECT & add at checkout)

👥 Class Size: Minimum 4 participants / Maximum 12 participants
What’s Included:

Use of professional encaustic materials & tools
Approximately Five wood substrates for your projects
Use of mixed media elements, collage papers, specialty materials & more
Hands-on instruction and one-on-one guidance
Studio ventilation, safety equipment, and workspace setup
Workshop booklet
A few assorted encaustic materials and tools for you to take home (included in the materials fees)

What to Bring:

Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting messy
Bring snacks, beverages, or a bagged lunch (refrigerator available)
Optional: personal mixed media pieces such as organic materials, specialty papers, sketches, foil, fibers, or items with personal meaning
(These are not required, but past students have loved adding their own creative “flavor” to their work.)

What to Expect:
Day 1

We’ll dive into the fundamentals of encaustics: safety, history, tools, and essential techniques. You’ll begin guided projects and work through as many techniques as possible on the first day — anything we don’t finish will roll into Day 2.

Day 2

This is your creative expansion day. You’ll continue and complete your projects with instructor support, feedback, and problem-solving. Day 2 is designed to help you confidently work independently while still having expert guidance at your side.

Medical Authorization and Waiver of Liability

MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I/we do hereby authorize Ashley Ellis and staff to make any and all emergency medical decisions and to authorize and consent to, any and all emergency medical care deemed necessary, to be rendered to the above-named participant for his/her care and safety.
The undersigned understands that all reasonable and diligent efforts will be made to contact the undersigned emergency contact of participant in an effort to obtain consent to all medical treatment unless the delay in such treatment could jeopardize the participant.
I, the undersigned participant, takes full responsibility for any financial cost that may be incurred for medical care of the above-named participant. Additionally, the undersigned agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Ashley Ellis and staff from any/all liability occasioned by such medical treatment and decision-making.
Ashley Ellis and Staff will not administer prescription medications or over the counter drugs except in the case of emergency, such as an Epinephrine autoinjector.
Participant must inform Ashley Ellis of any special circumstances which may affect the participant's ability to participate fully and within the guidelines of acceptable behavior, including, but not limited to, any serious behavioral problems or special circumstances regarding psychological, medical, or physical conditions.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY
I understand that Ashley Ellis and staff are acting only as agents and shall not be responsible or liable for any injury/ accident/ illness, which may occur on site or within the duration of the workshop. Please be aware that we must be able to reach your emergency contact in the case of an emergency. All classes will be conducted with utmost care in a safe learning environment.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Please read our policy

A $100 cancellation fee applies to all registrations canceled a minimum of seven (7) days prior the start date of the session. Cancellations made less than seven (7) days before the start of the session forfeit payment and will not be refunded. No refunds are issued for no-shows or withdrawal after workshop begins. Ashley Ellis reserves the right to cancel or modify a workshop or class at any time. Full refunds are issued if Ashley Ellis has to cancel sessions.
