Can you throw a small cup, small bowl, and small plate? Great - let's keep building those skills and keep on practicing. In this 8-week course, students will see demonstrations that build on the basics. The instructor will balance demonstrations, work time, and constructive feedback throughout the class. Beginning experience throwing on the wheel is required. Included in the cost is everything you need while you are in the class: basic pottery tools, buckets, clay and glazes, firing, and discounted open studio opportunities.
Part of the process in any class is basic studio etiquette in a shared space. At the end of each class you will be responsible for cleaning your wheel, shared tools, and workspace. Clay is messy so clip your nails and keep your watches/rings at home. Please bring a towel to wipe your hands and wear an apron/clothes you can get dirty (clay does wash out). A clean studio is a healthy studio as clay dust can build up if not properly cleaned after each session.
Rumriver Art Center's main method of communication is email. If you prefer another communication method, please indicate so in the access considerations box in this registration form.
