Join us for an exciting 8-week Intermediate/Advanced pottery class where students will have the unique opportunity to learn from two experienced teachers, doubling their knowledge on how to create and decorate amazing pots on the wheel.
During the first 4 weeks, Glenn Allenspach will lead the class, focusing on building and refining wheel-throwing skills. Through engaging demonstrations and personalized guidance, Glenn will help students expand on the basics they have already mastered. The class will be a perfect balance of demonstrations, hands-on work time, and valuable feedback to enhance learning.
In the second half of the class, Lei Washington will take over, introducing students to various techniques for decorating pottery. These techniques, including sgraffito, mishima, underglaze, slip trailing, and decals, will add a unique touch to your greenware, bisqued, and glazed pieces. Lei's approach is both informative and fun, making the learning process enjoyable for all participants.
Prior experience with wheel-throwing is required to enroll in this class. The cost of the class includes all necessary materials and tools, such as clay, glazes, firing, and access to discounted open studio sessions. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your pottery skills and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces under the guidance of our expert instructors.
Part of the process in any class is basic studio etiquette in a shared space. At the end of each class you will be responsible for cleaning your wheel, shared tools, and workspace. Clay is messy so clip your nails and keep your watches/rings at home. Please bring a towel to wipe your hands and wear an apron/clothes you can get dirty (clay does wash out). A clean studio is a healthy studio as clay dust can build up if not properly cleaned after each session.
