Students will dive into the creative world of zines, small, handmade magazines that combine art, storytelling, and personal expression. Using a variety of mixed-media materials, campers will experiment with collage, illustrative concepts, drawing, lettering, stamping, and found imagery to design and build their own unique zines. Throughout the week, students will explore fun zine making concepts such as folded one-page zines, theme based storytelling, visual journaling, and creative page sequencing. They’ll learn how artists and writers use new and upcycled materials to create their zines, and to share ideas, humor, poetry, and personal perspectives while discovering techniques for layout, composition, and combining text with imagery. By the end of the camp, each student will have created several original mini-publications and a finished zine to share filled with their own artwork, ideas, and creative voice. This camp encourages experimentation, and fun
