Class Description:
Embark on a culinary adventure through the vibrant world of Indian home cooking as we celebrate a meal celebrating Diawali, the Indian festival of lights! In this hands-on class, you'll master the art of creating authentic, aromatic dishes that will transport your taste buds straight to the heart of India. You'll leave with new skills, recipes to recreate at home, and a full stomach.
Longtime CCKC instructor Sumana Dey will be your guide through tonight’s menu. Start your evening learning how to make a classic, Samosa Chaat, a savory Indian street food. We can't have you take an Indian cooking class and not experience tasting Masala Chai - a comforting cup of spiced tea balanced with milk is served along with the kababs.
Next, along with Sumana you will dive into the world of lentils to create Lahsooni Jhinga Masoor Daal, garlic-tempered shrimp red lentil curry, which you will savor with rice. For tonight’s chef-demo, she’ll be showing you how to make Keema Masala: aromatic minced chicken with peas and potatoes. To cap your evening off, we’re having our Diwali special dessert of motichoor ladoo parfait, layers of rose cream, pistachios and motichoor ladoo, a very popular sweet made of tiny fried chickpea batter balls soaked in sugar syrup.
By the end of this class, you'll have the skills to recreate these homestyle Indian favorites in your own kitchen. Join us for an evening filled with aromatic spices, sizzling pans, and the warmth of Indian hospitality. No prior experience necessary – just bring your appetite and enthusiasm!
