Introduction:
- Fall is approaching, which means backyard cookouts and fires are around the corner. Sitting around a fire pit, telling stories and roasting marshmallows, what could be better for friends and family? What about adding a one-of-a-kind custom fire pit that you designed and built, something that’s unique to you and your interests.
- In this class, we’ll discuss how to prepare the vector files, how to source the materials, and how to use the CNC plasma cutter to make a custom firepit that is sure to impress any guests on game day or camp outs. As a bonus, the featured design is something that can be easily disassembled and stored when not in use. Attendees will get to choose up to six different designs.
- Interested in a private event for your friends, family, or coworkers? This class offers a great opportunity to allow each member to design a single panel of the firepit and showcase their hard work. Private events are filled with lots of laughs, stories, pictures, and fun. For more information about booking a private event, email class.input.if@gmail.com
- Note about class fees: The class fees include the cost of the sheet steel, which is a majority of the cost of the class. Each side of the firepit measures approximately 11” tall by 16” wide, and the entire firepit measures approximately 32” across.

Pairs Well With
Plan Your Visit
- Participants can choose designs from pre-prepared samples. If custom designs are desired, communicate those to the instructor at least two weeks prior to the class. The plasma cutter is loud and produces sparks; the metal can be sharp after cutting. Recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) to bring with you include safety glasses, workman’s gloves, hearing protection, close toed shoes, natural fiber clothing (cotton, denim, linen).
- Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk. Our main entrance is on State Street, with paid parking available on the street (about $1/hr) and fully validated parking in the Gravity Garage (see registration email for details).
Class Minimums and Deadlines
- This class will only be held if at least two attendees are registered. The registration for this class will close 1 week before the class takes place. This is due to the lead time required to get the sheet metal in house
