Adaptive Kids Summer Camp 4-Day - Chaos Collage

Ages: 10-17

Time: 9am - 12pm

Description:
 Join us for four days of sensory exploration as students create their own personalized “Chaos Collage” Journal. Students will create 2-3 pages of their journal each day from recycled and found materials paired with glue, colored pencils, markers, and other artistic mediums. They will learn about collage composition, creating dimension with layers, and how to do simple book binding. Some examples of pages students may create are: still lifes, landscapes, and self portraits. Students will have creative freedom and will be encouraged to express themselves in whatever ways they are most comfortable. 
Accommodations: 
● Adaptive tools will be available for students needing extra support with fine motor skills 
● Visual choice boards will be available for students who struggle to communicate 
● Calming / Sensory breaks will be offered, if needed 
● Pre-cut materials will be provided, if needed 
● All materials are non-toxic and washable 
About the Artist:
Kris Opsal is a Special Education Paraeducator
in the Anoka-Hennepin school district who is also
working towards her Masters in Teaching Special
Education. She has extensive experience
working with children of all ages with both
physical and cognitive disabilities. Kris received
her undergraduate degree from the Minneapolis
College of Art and Design in 2008 and is a
practicing mixed media artist. When she is not
working with children at school or creating art,
she loves spending time with her own three
children, doing projects around the house,
cooking, and cuddling with her four kitties.
