2-Hour Mixed Media Art Class with Acrylic & Modeling Paste
Explore your creativity in this 2-hour workshop by artist Lucy Sinkkonen, where you'll learn to paint using a unique, tactile approach that blends acrylics, pastel gesso backgrounds, and hand-piped modeling paste.
This class focuses on creating one finished 11x14" canvas using a layered, nature-inspired technique. You'll begin by building a soft, ethereal background with pastel and gesso. Then, you'll add vibrant acrylic layers and finish with piped modeling paste, forming raised textures inspired by organic shapes found in nature.
What You’ll Learn:
How to blend pastel and gesso for soft, luminous backgrounds
Acrylic painting techniques to enhance color and contrast
Hand-piping and shaping modeling paste to create dimensional texture
The foundations of creating harmony between color, texture, and form
No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and love for nature-inspired art.
This special workshop is offered in tandem with Lucy’s gallery show, giving students the unique opportunity to learn while surrounded by her original artwork. Participants will explore the acrylic painting techniques Lucy uses in her own creative process, drawing direct inspiration from the pieces displayed on the gallery walls. It’s a wonderful experience for kids, adults, and the whole family to enjoy together, and a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning new acrylic painting skills in a vibrant, artistic setting.
