Welcome to the Forge introduction to pottery course for teens, open to all teens 12-18 years old. The class is designed for beginners. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals to be able to produce your own creations. This course is taught by NC licensed art educator Jessica Schuele. Students will be instructed on how to use the pottery wheel, tools, clay preparation, and how to enjoy working with mud.
This course meets two times for two hours. The first week we spend two hours creating on the pottery wheel. The following week we spend two hours painting our pottery pieces.
This course focused on learning the fundamentals. Students will be able to return to the Forge to collect their pieces after they have been glaze fired by staff.
*Your second class session is the following Monday at the same start time as your first class session.*
*To be successful in throwing pottery, participants must have short fingernails. Those with long fingernails may not be able to participate fully in this class*
There must be 2 people signed up for this class for it to run. A Forge staff member will reach out to you the weekend before your class if a cancellation or rescheduling of your class is required.
Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entirety of their class. Parents or guardians are not permitted to leave their minor at the Forge without their supervision.
