Open to anyone (16 yrs & older), this is a five-week introductory course to throwing clay on the potter's wheel. We'll guide you through the wheel fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling, shaping and trimming.
You'll create several pieces from start to finish, learning the basics beyond the wheel, including handle attachment and glazing. It is strongly suggested for newer students to take at least two of these Wheel Throwing Basics classes to get a full grasp of the fundamentals before moving on to Level 2 classes and workshops. Class price includes all supplies, glazes, firings (up to 15 lbs. of clay work through firings), and one open studio session each week for the duration of the class and until work is completed that was begun during class time. (All wet clay work must be completed during your five week session).
