If you've always wanted to write but think you don't have a story to tell, or if you have a story and aren't sure how to start sharing it, this course will help you kick-start your narrative. Learn how to construct a concept and grow it into a story that captures your audience's attention and stays with them long after 'The End.'
This class focuses on prose fiction, but students will also examine storytelling in mediums from film to advertising. Students will brainstorm an original concept as a group and see how to use a variety of structural methods to develop it into a narrative that resonates with an audience. To illuminate points, students be breaking down several classic and well-known stories, such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Godfather. Spoilers will abound!
In this class, students will also discuss the realities of making a living through storytelling, and the different routes available to share your stories with the public.
