Intro to Blacksmithing II: Coat Rack

Learn the basics of blacksmithing and forge your own 3 hook coat rack. This introductory class is perfect for getting started and seeing what this old-time craft is about. We will be concentrating on learning the basics of blacksmithing. You will learn to use some of the tools by Forging 3 hooks and riveting them to a steel backboard. We will be using the forge, tongs, hammer, and punches for this project.

Plan Your Visit

All materials and safety equipment supplied.  Students are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to participate.  Natural fiber clothing, such as cotton or denim, and sturdy footwear (e.g. tennis shoes or boots) is recommended. Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk.  Our main entrance is on State Street, with parking lot entrance on State St. as well. IF parking and street parking available.
