Class Description:
This 2-day Summer Camp is designed for Junior Chefs ages 9-14 years. Taught by acclaimed Executive Chef Richard McPeake, the students will receive a Master Culinary Class in Italian pastas and the sauces that pair with them. The young chefs will learn how to make several styles of handmade dough from scratch and how to fashion that dough into various shapes, some of which will be made by hand and some of which will utilize a pasta machine. In addition, we'll learn fundamentals of several types of sauces that pair with those various pasta shapes. We’ll explore braising techniques for cooking pasta and learn the important differences in the flours used to make pasta. Some of the dishes taught will be Fettuccini alla Burro (the original Alfredo!), Tagliatelle Pasta Bolognese, Chef's 300-year-old Sicilian Marinara Sauce, Handmade Lasagna using pasta sheets, Handmade Sweet Potato Ravioli with Brown Sage Butter Sauce, and Handmade Rolled Cannelloni. No experience is necessary, this is a beginner-friendly course. Students will taste each dish as we go. These students will build a foundation in cooking that will last a lifetime!

Account Credits issued for cancelations within three weeks of a class will expire one year from the date of issuance. We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reason, at any time, in which case you will receive a full refund.
If (a) you’d like to sit with another registered guest, or (b) have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in the Comments section of your registration after reading our full description of policies and information about classes.

For This Teen Class: To attend this class you must be at least 14 years old as of the class date (or as of the first date of the first class of a series) and up to 18 years. For all students less than 18 years an 'Under 18 Waiver' must be executed by a parent or legal guardian (click here for a copy of the "Under 18 Waiver.) All students 18 years old must executed an "Adult Waiver' (click here for a copy of the ‘Adult Waiver’.) We encourage you to download, print and sign the waiver and bring it to class with your child (or email it in advance to heather@kcculinary.com). If someone other than the parent drops off your child under 18 years of age and requests to sign on behalf of a child, they will need evidence that they are a legal guardian for that child. Please choose the class that is right for the developmental level of your child.
If you are signing up for a Class Series: Please note that once the series has begun no substitutions will be allowed since the series is designed for the classes to build upon each other. In the event you miss a class in the series, no refunds will be given and it is not possible to make up the class(es) in a future similar series.
Our Kitchen Shop Experience™ will be open for browsing prior to class, during any breaks, and after class.
