If you can use a roller, a texturizing stamp, and cookie cutter - you can discover the wonderful world of Precious Metal Clay (PMC). In this 1-day workshop, you will learn from our lead PMC instructor, Kelly Grady, how to work with the clay. She will walk students through each step of the creative process including rolling, hydrating, firing, and incorporating embeddable stones.
About PMC: Precious metal clay (PMC) is a suspension of tiny particles of silver metal in an organic clay binder. Originating in Japan in 1990, metal clay can be shaped by hand or molds. It is as malleable as ordinary modeling clay. After drying, the clay is fired by hand or in the kiln. When fired, the binder burns off, the metal sinters and what is left is a piece of metal. Tumble, polish or patina to finish your piece.
All levels are welcome.
NOTE: Mitsubishi brand PMC3 Fine Silver is required for class. A 15g packet of clay is all that will be needed to complete the projects. Clay can be purchased at the studio for $37.50 or online.
