Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I’ve never played in a Magic tournament before! I’m nervous.
A: Don’t be! Prereleases are the best way to ease yourself into tournaments. The environment’s relaxed, and there’s always a tournament official around to help you out if you have any questions.
Q: DCI Number? What’s That? Is there a problem if I don’t have one?
A: “The DCI (formerly, Duelists’ Convocation International) is the official sanctioning body for competitive play in Magic: The Gathering
and various other games produced by Wizards of the Coast.” …but that’s all just fancy talk for a registration number. If you don’t have a DCI Number, no problem! You can easily sign up for a free Wizards Account right here. After you fill out all of the information, write down the DCI number on your player profile and bring it to us the day of the event. It’s that simple! Players under 18 will need parent authorization to complete registration.
Q: When can I check in?
A: On Friday, we’re staying open past midnight, so 10:30-11:00 PM is ideal. On Saturday/Sunday, we open at 10:00 AM and you are more than welcome to swing by, check in, and have some delicious food at the Restaurant.
NOTE: During the midnight prereleases, we cannot allow additional spectators to remain past closing time, other than the parent of a minor. We will ask any other non-participants in the building to leave prior to the start of the event.
Q: I don’t want to play, I just want the cards. Can I just come in whenever and get my cards?
Q: I preregistered, but couldn’t make it during the weekend. I still want the cards- when can I collect them?
A: You are more than welcome to leave once the event has started, though if this is the case, I highly recommend signing up for a Core Set 2019 Prerelease Party instead of an actual Prerelease right here. If you registered for the event, but couldn’t make it for any reason, you have the option of receiving your prerelease pack at the end of the weekend, or you can request a refund. No-shows will be issued a refund by default one week after the event if we cannot get a hold of you. Refund requests, and any additional questions should be emailed to MBH Event Coordinator Frank Stanley at fstanley@moxboardinghouse.com
