INTRO TO WOODSHOP

Learn the fundamentals of woodworking and how to safely operate the core woodshop tools in this introductory class.

Get practical, hands-on experience using table saws, sliding compound miter saw, drill press, band saw, table router, and belt and disk sanders. Learn to make straight cuts (rip and crosscut), mitered cuts, curved cuts, smooth edges, rounded edges, and drill holes.

Project: Build a small wooden catapult

Prerequisites: None

Equipment access: Sliding compound miter saw, table saw, wood drill press, wood band saw, table router, and belt and disc sanders

Minimum age: 14

Supervision requirements: None

Safety:

• Mandatory: Closed-toed shoes, eye protection, short sleeves
  
  
• Advised: Hearing protection, particle filter or dust mask

Once you take and successfully pass this class, you can use this equipment for your projects whenever you work at BFL as a member!
