In this 8-week class, adults will learn the basics of how to create original paintings from the ground up. The first part of the class will focus on acrylic painting, and the second half will focus on oil painting. In the process, students will learn how to create a great composition, how color theory affects your paintings, and what types of materials you need for acrylic versus oil painting. It will be taught by artist Beth Smith, an artist with years of teaching and painting experience. The cost for the entire course is $220 for non-members, $180 for members, and includes canvases, paints, and all other supplies used during the course. The class will meet on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm, starting August 2. The class will not meet August 16, and the last class will be September 27. Ages 16 and up.
